Man what a ball game.

This has been a week of bridge playing. Lou and I took off Monday to Chattonooga, Tn and stayed at the Chattanooga Choc Choc for the bridge tournment. We played in the knock outs with a four women team. I got my first GOLD master point. This is a big deal and I got it with my mentor Lou, so that made it extra special.
I came back on Wednesday after our match that morning. Nancy Sims arrived to play the rest of the time with Lou. I played at the Hoover tournment on Thursday with Richard Anderson and we got silver points and had a
54% and a 58% game that was wonderful. The month of October has been a good month for me in bridge, I have gotten a total this month of 10.08 master points (so in four years I now have 69.10 points).
Tonight i work at the North Valley Church trunk and treat and serve over 300 cups of hot choclate.
As you can see retirement life is busy!!!!!!

I'm still smiling

Yesterday the mailman left my investment statement and I can tell you all if was a blue Monday. But after much prayer and a hug from the good Lord I know I am going to be okay. I don't know how to insert into this blog yet but I will learn.

Just for Old Time's Sake

This is KB again. I was looking through all the pictures on my computer this weekend and ran across some pictures from Christmas last year. I could probably include this in the last post "these are a few of my favorite things" because Mom loves Christmas. The woman has multiple trees in her house, christmas dishes just for the season and even framed and matted pictures of holiday scenes to replace the every day pictures.

Mom always cooks us breakfast on Christmas morning. Its funny how things change over time because we used to open presents and then eat breakfast. Now that we are older we look forward to breakfast just as much as we do to opening presents.

Here are some pictures from our family Christmas last year:

This is Teri bright eyed and bushy tailed on Christmas morning.
This was the only one that was G rated for the kids :)

This was one of the "pooper scoopers" mom bought for her granddogs...she was so proud at her creativity.

These are the cheese grits that turned out a little too thick.

"These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...."

This is KB, Ms. Joan's youngest daughter posting. Mom hasn't quite gotten the hang of how to add pictures and new entries but I love her desire to be tech savvy so I wanted to add another post to her blog for her. I have affectionately called this post "these are a few of my favorite things" and I can't help but hear that song from the Sound of Music as I type it. But, these are just a few of my mom's favorite things that I wanted to share with you all:

Ms. Joan loves her girls and her granddogs (the closest thing she has to grandchildren right now). This is KB and her dog Matti.

And this is Teri and her dogs Lucy and Bella (Bella has a new home since this picture was taken)

Ms. Joan loves her new church, NorthValley.

Ms. Joan loves Alabama football and actually has a reason to shoot her fireworks this year!

For any of you who know Ms. Joan you know how much she loves to play bridge until the wee hours of the morning.

I recently turned 60 years old and boy was I surprised when my girls along with Ellen, Donna and Lou managed to pull a fast one on me. These are pictures from my big surprise party!
